Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is important post injury! Even within the first 24-48hrs of injury physiotherapy can help to reduce the damage.  Everyone can benefit from physiotherapy regardless of age and lifestyle eg. very active, high level sports or the more leisurely of you.

On your initial visit, a full assessment will be completed including taking a full medical history all the way through to a subjective and objective examination leading to a diagnosis of your problem which, will be fully explained to you.  This will be followed by an individual treatment and rehabilitation plan taking into consideration your age, lifestyle, activities of daily living, sporting activities and general health.

The treatment may include manual therapy, mobilisations/manipulations, electrotherapy, exercises, clinical pilates, postural advice or sports massage.

Post operative rehabilitation

Improves the range of movement, strength, balance and proprioception following a surgical intervention such as a joint replacement.  The length of the rehabilitation will depend of what surgery has been performed.  Post op rehabilitation can include soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, balance, strength and functional exercises and education.

Electrotherapy

Ultrasound is used to treat deep tissue injuries by stimulating blood circulation and cell activity using high frequency sound waves.  It helps to reduce pain, muscle spasm and helps to promote healing.

Clinical Pilates

The Pilates method is an exercise program that focuses on the deep postural muscles of the abdomen and spine improving core stability and posture.  It is particularly beneficial for those with back pain, sports injuries, pre/post pregnancy and arthritis.  Pilates has been used widely within physiotherapy as an adjunct in the prevention and rehabilitation of back pain and is suitable for anyone at any age and fitness level.

Sports massage

I provided both therapeutic and remedial massage to private clients and on-site to business/corporate organisations.  Please contact me with your requirements.

One of the oldest and simplest forms of medical care is used to ease pain, reduce anxiety and promote good health by realigning the muscles fibres and breaking down trigger points and adhesions.  Thus, improving muscle tone, flexibility and reducing muscle soreness post exercise/sport.

Having a regular sports massage has many benefits such as reducing risk of injury and increasing performance.

This can be sports, therapeutic and for pregnancy.

Available to attend events and training camps for pre and post race/training.  Please contact Alexandra on 07787 556 006 with your requirements

Home Visits

A home visit from a physiotherapist may be required if you are unable to drive, finding it difficult to move around or just prefer the comfort of your own home.

Home visits are for "one off" sessions only and are not for regular treatments.
